Man struck by towed ‘fridge dies at scene

A 21-year-old Wolf Creek resident died of injuries when struck by a refrigerator being towed by an SUV, said Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

Dead is Jorel Shane Behrle. The accident on Thursday, Nov. 1 was reported at 2:55 a.m. on Placer Road in Sunny Valley.

JCSO said that Christopher W. LaCoe, 23, of Sunny Valley, driver of a Blazer, reported the incident. He related that he was towing a refrigerator and that somehow it struck the side of his vehicle, causing injury to the head of the deceased.

Results of routine blood and alcohol tests are pending. LaCoe submitted to them voluntarily.

JCSO reported that there are indications that Behrle was leaning out the passenger-side window to take a photo of the refrigerator when it somehow came forward and struck him.
