From raking to Reiki, GT (Giving Thanks) Maintenance is ready to help.

Greg & Teresa Goad saw their ideal home while visiting their parents in Cave Junction in 1989. They moved here in ‘94 to enjoy four-wheeling and outdoor sports.

In ‘99, the couple went to a garage sale at the house Goad originally spotted -- they made an offer -- and bought their Oregon dream home.

The two worked 12 years for Fire Mountain Gems in the shipping and customer service departments.

Plans changed after Greg’s back injury, and he needed to take care of his mother, who had Alzheimer’s. The couple said that whereas they previously were set on materialistic goals, they were becoming more spiritual, and seeing the bigger picture.

Their minister recommended, “Greg, you do for everyone now, that’s what you do, you help people; that’s your business.” So Goad developed his Jack-of-all-trades ability to help people.

“People like to be independent, I want to help people, and open a new avenue to them,” said Goad. “I offer integrity; I want to be a help. If you give good service, and treat people right, you’ll have more than enough work. It’s a win-win, you can’t go wrong.

“You can create ripples in the water, and help someone. When it makes their life quality better; takes some of life’s pressure off, they can then help someone else.”

Greg said that he will maintain and clean yards, work on cars -- whatever the customer needs. He said that he can help with everything from sprinklers, sheet rock, plumbing and electrical items.

Goad added that he can do engine tune-ups, and work on brakes and transmissions.

A blind neighbor recently needed help with a tractor. Goad had never looked at a tractor in his life, but it’s all nuts and bolts to him. He helped the neighbor by becoming his eyes and hands, and they repaired a hydraulic leak, Goad said. The neighbor then loaned the tractor to Goad for his project, he noted.

Goad also started to replace a floor, and ended up remodeling a bathroom. He has his own tools, including a riding lawn mower, bought in Cave Junction at Dave’s Outdoor Power Equipment. He will give free estimates on removing weeds, and maintaining rentals.

While Greg is spending his energy raking, Teresa does her own Reiki energy work. She said that she recently completed her Reiki 1 Certification through New Hope Healing Arts in Grants Pass, and will undergo her second training next month.

Teresa said that she also offers p-ROSHI therapy. Similar to a tune-up for the brain or a “de-frag” for computers, “P-roshi is an amazing light-and-sound therapy using state-of-the-art neurotherapy glasses, with flashing lights, and meditative music,” said Teresa.

Promoted as a “Brain Brightener” the p-ROSHI offers visual stimulation and audio embedded with binaural beat.

According to Braintune.org, “The pROSHI is a ‘Global Brain Training Device’. It is a gentle and efficient way to replicate the clearing power of years of meditative practice.

“The pROSHI has been known to alleviate the symptoms of ADD/ADHD, sleep apnea, chronic pain, brain fog, anger, fibromyalgia, autism, depression, anxiety, addictions, migraines, and many other complaints.”

People in the valley can tune up their yards and minds at same time -- phone GT Maintenance at 659-3618.
