Thugs Jonesin' for Chinese
From our weekly issue dated July 2, 2008
Anthony & Kitty Chan, who own and operate King’s Chinese Cuisine in Cave Junction, are suffering through a series of break-ins.
Early in June, burglars broke into the restaurant. They stole the cash register and damaged it, leaving it outside. There was some building damage, and the crooks trashed the place.
On Saturday, June 28 an employee discovered another break-in. It apparently occurred between midnight and 4 a.m., said Anthony. Besides causing damage by breaking in, the thugs fixed themselves a meal. They also drank a quantity of Budweiser beer, he said, even though Tsingtao beer and other brands were available.
More damage was discovered on Sunday morning, June 29, said Anthony Chan. The thugs apparently tried to enter the building through a small window on the side closest to Speedy Mart.

Entry apparently was not achieved, and a small quantity of blood was found, leading to the assumption that whoever was trying to break in was injured when they broke the glass.
And on Monday morning, June 30, a large window on the side of the café next to the Shasta Fudge shop was found to have been broken. Chan said that a case of Budweiser beer was missing.

He estimates losses from the series of break-ins at $500.
Security measures Chan now has taken include installing metal bars on windows.
