Thursday, July 3
*More than a week after a vehicle was reported abandoned off Naue Way, the owner was notified. He recovered what remained.
*Vehicle tags which had been altered were seized from a vehicle found in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:30 a.m.
*A “verbal disturbance” was reported on Briar Lane at 1 a.m.
*In Kerby a man said that the mother of his child had been using drugs and he
didn’t want her in his home, although she was outside at 5:53 a.m., honking her horn.
*While swatting at a bee, it was reported, a man drove his vehicle into a tree on Laurel Road at 9 a.m.
*A white pickup truck was seen leaving the scene after a parked vehicle was struck on S. Kerby Avenue at 5:37 p.m.
*Two persons fled on foot after a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a tow truck hauling a dark SUV on Redwood Hwy. at Reeves Creek Road at 6:07 p.m.
*In connection with the previous item, people were seen in another vehicle driving soon thereafter, and a chase ensued. Subsequently, James David Breedlove, 37, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license (DWS) and no insurance; Russell Lynn Knight, 42, was cited on charges of probation violation; and Brian Joseph Maxwell, 24, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS).
*A Cave Junction restaurant owner reported that he’d been assaulted by a woman who yelled, “Hit me back, I’m pregnant!” Crystal Dawn Costa, 33, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree assault, and trespassed from the restaurant.
*A group of vagrants was contacted in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 9 p.m., and their alcoholic beverages were poured out.
Friday, July 4
*Rowdy campers were contacted at Lake Selmac after someone complained about noise at 1:14 a.m.
*At 2:27 a.m. about a dozen teen-agers were reported fighting in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. They were gone upon a deputy’s arrival.
*Michael Hockersmith, 16, was cited on a charge of possession of illegal fireworks at Store Gulch on Illinois River Road at 2:58 p.m.
*A man was reported shooting a .22-caliber rifle at passing cars on Sauers Flat at 3:05 p.m., but no such activity could be located.
*Phillip Yves Fraser, Stephen E. Evans, Lynetta Coleen Vaughn, Russell Richard Brummett, and Neil Francis White were cited on charges of criminal trespass and escorted from private property in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. in Downtown CJ at 5:48 p.m.
*Lee Ray Lewis, 58, was cited on warrants charging identity theft and two counts of contempt of court. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
*A dispute between campers over the appropriate use of fireworks was reported at Lake Selmac at 10:29 p.m.
*Three people were warned about their conduct although no charges were filed after a reported assault at a Lake Selmac campground at 11:06 p.m.
Saturday, July 5
*At Grayback Campground a park host said that he was threatened by a person on a motorcycle who was causing a disturbance at 9:57 a.m.
*Mark Daniel Forsey Jr., 16, was cited as a runaway and lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
*Randy Max Malm, 50, was cited on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS) and warned regarding an obscured license plate on E. River Street at 5:56 p.m.
*In the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:29 p.m. Douglas Alan Hoskins, 18, was cited on a charge of speeding (77 in a 55 mph zone), and warned for failure to obey a traffic control device.
*Harry Eugene Yost, 54, was cited on a federal charge of possession of a controlled substance/marijuana at Deer Creek Park at 11:17 p.m.
Sunday, July 6
*Derek Mendez, 18, was cited on a charge of speeding, and his passengers warned for failure to properly wear seatbelts near Illinois River “Forks” State Park at 1:21 a.m.
*Jason Charles Gill, 35, was cited on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, refusal to take a breathalyzer test, careless driving and open container on Shadowbrook Drive at 1:55 a.m. His vehicle was towed and a firearm seized.
*Samuel Todd Allen, was cited on a charge of speeding (62 in a 40) in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:14 p.m.
*Tasha R. Thornton, 20, was cited on a warrant charging unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and first-degree theft. Thornton was taken to county jail.
*People yelling, and gunshots, were complained about on S. Junction Avenue at 11:30 p.m.
Monday, July 7
*A pet chinchilla was recovered and returned to his owner after it was reported that the animal had been stolen from a Tracy Lane residence.
*On Pinecone Drive a woman reported receiving threatening email from a former resident.
*A deputy conducted a bar check in Downtown CJ at 10:36 p.m.
*A caller was concerned for the welfare of an individual sleeping on a parking lot in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. at 10:47 p.m.
Tuesday, July 8
*A pedestrian on Caves Hwy. said at 1:24 a.m. that a red Jeep was following her and that the occupants were yelling obscenities.
*A green-and-white Jeep Commando was reported stolen from a Hogue Drive residence.
*On W. River Street a caller said that a neighbor, without provocation, chased her husband down the street and that she had a baseball bat.
*Sara Louise Princhetta, 53, was cited on a charge of DWS and failure to use a turn signal on S. Redwood Hwy. at Caves Hwy. at 6:48 p.m. The vehicle was impounded.
Wednesday, July 9
*A woman reported that her ex-husband violated a restraining order by following her into a Downtown CJ store and making profane and threatening statements to her and a friend.
*Some 30 teen-agers were said to be damaging an irrigation dam near Q Bar X Ranch. The complainant asked they be warned regarding trespassing.
*In O’Brien a father said that he was too old to deal with a defiant teen-ager and wanted to “relinquish her to the state system.” The girl, who said her father won’t let her do anything with her friends, was counseled about her behavior.
*Mark William Weist, 54, was cited on a charge of driving with switched license plates.
