Electrical power was interrupted to parts of O’Brien and Rough & Ready Lumber Co. Tuesday morning, July 15, following a single-vehicle accident which demolished a utility pole at Hwy. 199 and Krauss Lane. Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) responded to the 5:31 a.m. alarm. The driver of the pickup truck, believed to be from Brookings, was transported by American Medical Response.

Pacific Power responded and had service restored by approximately 7:45 a.m.

Oregon State Police also responded, and IVFD temporarily closed the highway to big rigs due to low-hanging telephone lines, although trucks were rerouted with little delay. (Photos by Dale & Elaine Sandberg, IVFD Media Dept.)
