    An ordinance banning public drinking within city limits -- effective immediately -- was approved 5-0 by the Cave Junction City Council during its 39-minute meeting Monday night, May 11, in city hall.

    Legislation is being advanced at the Oregon capitol in Salem to protect the privacy of concealed weapons permit holders.

    Goodwill Industries Week was Sunday through Saturday, May 3 to 9, just in time for the announcement that the Cave Junction Goodwill store will close Friday, May 15.

    A Waldo Road family wants to warn residents of a possible cougar on the prowl in the Indian Hill Ranch area.

A free family event -- Alpaca Farm Open Days -- is set for Sunday and Monday, May 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will include alpaca spring babies in the pasture, and a shearing demonstration Monday starting at 11. And there will be alpaca fiber, yarns, rugs, socks and other fiber products.

    Since 1990 the Illinois Valley High School Safe & Sober Grad Night Committee’s mission has been to entertain senior students and celebrate their success while providing a safe, sober, and fun grad night celebration.

  • Auction, dinner to benefit Grad Night

    The place to be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, is the silent auction and dinner at Illinois Valley High School sponsored as an annual fundraiser by the IVHS Grad Night Committee.

    Lorna Byrne Middle School Music Dept. will present “Spring Concert,” a free program for the community, on Wednesday, May 27 beginning at 7 p.m.

  • Cemetery clean-up set May 16

    Saturday, May 16 beginning at 9 a.m. a volunteer clean-up event will be held at Laurel Cemetery, on Laurel Road in Cave Junction. Approximately 60 volunteers are needed.
