  • Thursday, Dec. 30
    • Six cows were in the roadway and a herd of cattle was loose at the Siskiyou Field Institute until Brian Francis Pfeiffer rounded them up and took care of them.
    • A resident on the 2000 block of Thompson Creek Road believes he might know who is removing mail from his mailbox and throwing it on the ground.
    • Dennis George Edge, 48, was taken to the Josephine County Jail for a probation violation, then warned about alcohol on public premises and trespassed from Jubilee Park for six months.
    • Joshua Jason Bowers, 36, was warned about no motorcycle endorsement and no plates on his vehicle, and ended up pushing his newly purchased motorcycle to the bike shop after a traffic stop on the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy.
    • It“s bad enough to get stuck in snow, but even worse to be on a blind corner, blocking a lane of traffic on the 8000 block of Happy Camp Road. * Residents on Westside Road thought two young men were “casing“ the neighborhood, going door-to-door stating they were out of gas. The two males, one white with a blue bandanna on his head, and the other wearing glasses and an Afro, were driving a dark blue/black small Nissan-style pickup. Joseph Eugene Harris, 21, and Daniel Eli Eddy, 18, were ultimately advised to not act so suspiciously in the future, and warned about not carrying proof of registration and insurance.
    • More people learned the importance of obtaining snow park permits before playing at Page Mountain Snow Park.
    • One person on West Watkins stated that “there“s a degenerate asking for an ambulance,“ and someone else said that “he does this a lot to get a ride home,“ but Charles James Bile, 55, thought he was having a stroke. Medics were told to “step it up“ when Charlie couldn“t breathe; he was transported to Three Rivers Hospital on a high-priority transport.
    • Twelve or 13 high-powered rifle shots were heard off Kirkham Road at 5:15 p.m., but no one knew who would be shooting at that time.
    • Twenty more high-power rifle shots were reported off Airport Drive between 4 and 7 p.m.
    • People on the 4000 block of Happy Camp Road came home to find all of their belongings outside and their residence ransacked.
    • Mark William Iloff, 57, was arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault after punching Frank S. Spencer, 58, at the Kerby High Pines Trailer Park.
  • Friday, Dec.31
    • An elderly, confused female phoned police at 1:37 a.m. because there was an item in her kitchen on the floor that was making a grinding type noise and it wouldn“t turn off. Deputies determined the source of noise was the furnace air duct and the woman was advised to call a repair person in the morning.
    • Two goats loose on Deer Creek Road were herded back into their yard and the gate secured.
    • A woman behind Speedy Mart stated that someone was following her. She said she had been in hiding and will be going back into hiding for a few months. Isn“t it too early for Groundhog Day“
    • Someone gained access through a wall at a residence in Kerby, taking a lot of items in the last month while the owner was out with cancer.
    • Firefighter Tony Paulson assisted an elderly couple on White Oak Drive who were locked out of their house and freezing. The couple are new to the area and do not know anyone, and the husband had decided to break in a window.
    • Five horses were on the move, roaming in and out of East River Street and Laurel Road from the High School to the cemetery until their owner, Mary S. Phillips, was able to round them up.
  • Saturday, Jan. 1
    • Concerned because she thought her friend said, “I hope something happens and I drive off a cliff,“ a woman contacted law enforcement at 3:24 a.m. to check on a vehicle heading down Caves Hwy. towards Grants Pass. The vehicle was located and the driver was fine. The driver was apparently misheard when she left and actually stated that she hoped nothing happened.
    • Mitchell Stenen, 53, displayed noticeable facial injuries that resulted from being punched two to three times, presumably by a bouncer at a C.J. drinking establishment.
    • Family members on Gold Canyon Drive were feuding over $500 owed on a 5th wheel vehicle.
    • Open lines on a cell phone at the Secret Trailer Park on Caves Hwy. were keeping track of a couple watching TV, walking, coughing and feeding their child. Wonder how many minutes that used up“
    • Someone witnessed a man loosening the lug nuts on a female“s vehicle parked at the Junction Inn before driving away. Did the oh-so-crafty person consider innocent people who could have been hurt when the tires fell off“
  • Sunday, Jan. 2
    • Suspicious missing items such as a bottle of pills, a cane, hat and lighter were found on Westside Road, and a woman was worried that the man listed on the pill bottle might be missing or lost. He was home asleep and family members were given contact information to retrieve his belongings from the neighbor.
    • Icy road conditions on Lakeshore Drive and Thompson Creek Road caused a rollover accident involving a Dodge Caravan. Deseree and Clinton Beverleigh were transported to Three Rivers Hospital, but a 19-month-old child in the vehicle did not appear to be injured.
    • It was “unknown what they are arguing about today,“ but nine adults on Forest Creek Road were screaming, cussing and causing a disturbance.
    • Residents on the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy. were only gone for four hours in the afternoon, but during that time someone broke windows, took guns and keys to vehicles and went through things all through the house.
    • A suspicious vehicle with a spotlight was seen driving up and down Norman Road. There have reportedly been recent burglaries and a cougar in the area.
  • Monday, Jan. 3
    • People leaving obscene messages on cell phones should realize that with caller ID, that number can easily be accessed by law enforcement, who can then leave a message warning about telephonic harassment.
    • William Andrew Brown, 61, and Rebecca Lynn Brown, 57, were fighting in a green semi parked on S. Redwood Hwy., but were uncooperative with law enforcement in providing information about injuries. They were both warned regarding harassment and agreed to leave.
    • Jerry Dean Inselman, 30, was arrested on felony driving while suspended charges and while a female advised that she was going to be en route to punch a cop in the face.
    • Just before 10 p.m., a female ran into a local watering hole stating that a vehicle had just run into Shop Smart. Antionette Latasha Alverson, 30, was reportedly the driver of the vehicle that went over the curb and damaged the Shop Smart sign.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 4
    • This time it was a horse and a donkey that were on the loose; these critters escaped from their pen at the house that looks like a castle and were on the airport runway.
    • Mark Allen Jubas was warned again for failure to carry current proof of insurance and expired registration, but this time he did have a money order and paperwork for registration and was dropping it off at the DMV, which closed that police incident.
    • Ten months ago, Larry Warnicke reported the theft of a set of tires and rims, but never made the initial report. He now has received info as to who took them and knows where the tires are located. Law enforcement checked the residence of the alleged thief, but no tires were found matching those taken from Warnicke.
    • Law enforcement officers were flagged down by someone inquiring if the animal problem at the I.V. Airport was resolved.
    • Mitchell Wayne Thornton II may not have been committing a crime, but running into Phillips Auto Wrecking shop and being disorderly was enough to get him sent home for the day.
    • Has anyone found a black leather single-fold wallet containing various forms of I.D that fell off a vehicle driving on Hogue Drive“
    • Someone lost a Stanley toolbox, it“s damaged beyond repair, and was placed close to a trash receptacle at the Forks Park.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 5
    • Sandy Upton reported theft of tools, a toolbox and a generator from her husband“s truck. She wasn“t sure if it happened while she was shopping in Grants Pass, but she thought it was unlikely that it occurred at home since they have a locked gate.
    • Michael Allen Martinho, 30, was transported to the JoCo jail for warrants for wildlife and conservation/ fish & game violations, cited for driving while suspended and open container and warned about possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
    • Mindy Miller reported that her trailer had been removed from its location on Lakeshore Drive and that she believed a relative took it, but she did not know of a specific reason why it was taken.
    • A woman on Crest Drive reported that someone named Jeremy came to her residence and assaulted her grandson with a Teflon skillet. Good thing it wasn“t cast iron.
  • Thursday, Jan. 6
    • Four gunshot holes were found in a mining tank on the Illinois River.
    • Cecil Gorden Dodson, Jr., 28, was arrested for failure to appear on several charges, including possession of controlled substance, fourth-degree assault, criminal mischief, failure to comply to terms of probation, DUII, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and reckless driving. Other charges include felony & misdemeanor elude, reckless endangering, felon in possession of a weapon, theft by receiving and supply of contraband. Dodson was taken into custody after his vehicle crashed near Caves Hwy./Caves Ave.
    • Robert Hiler, 57, was transported to Three Rivers Hospital after a concerned friend sought medical help for him because he hadn“t eaten in six weeks and his skin was very yellow.
