Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson is getting ready to take the plunge.
On Friday, Feb. 4, Gilbertson will jump into freezing cold water at Hawthorne Park as part of the Polar Plunge benefiting Oregon Special Olympics, and he“s looking for people to join in on the Sheriff“s Office team.
Many versions of the Polar Plunge take place each winter to raise funds for Special Olympics and other causes. Polar Plunge Oregon is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run that was formed to help involve law enforcement with Special Olympics and communities.
